Jeanne Douillard came to clay work in a roundabout way. A biology major in college, she developed an interest in clay in the late 1970’s while living in New Hampshire. She moved to Denver, CO in the late 1970’s and worked under potters Jim and Nan McKinnell. In the early 1980’s, she moved to North Carolina, where she established a studio and gallery.
By 1988, she was back home in New England. She moved to Greenfield, MA in 2007 and now works in Bernardston, as a resident artist at 11 South Gallery/Workshop.
Jeanne is primarily interested in creating functional kitchen wares. She believes in making work that not only looks good but also works well. It is this attention to the details of function that makes her work durable for everyday use.
